What’s happening at Franciscan shouldn’t be surprising because it’s what we’ve seen in the American Church at large.

Catholics thinking they understand the problem are part of the problem.

If I thought myself Jesus Christ, I might have done that too. I might have taken a hammer to that wall.

These are all ours: the beauty and the horror, the charity and the abuse, the art and the scandal.

Here are some of my shortcomings.

Ask for concrete, specific, and actionable items.

“It’s exhausting to do this every two years. What does it take for the Archdiocese to come clean?”

“People mess up, but messing up has consequences.”

“There’s no way I would let my child be an altar server.”
